**For 2024---secondary wrestlers will be permitted in any weight classes that do not have more than 16 entries, up to a 16-man bracket (typically vacancies at lightest and heaviest classes). Vacancies to be filled based on each team ranking their 3 possible additional entries in order of worthiness, with preference then given to teams whose data is submitted on time. You may bring additional entries with the understanding that they will PROBABLY NOT become part of the tournament, and will be asked to work a table.
Medals awarded to top 3 finishers in each weight class (scoring to 6th place)
Trophies to the top 2 teams “Outstanding Wrestler” Trophy & 2 “Most Exciting Final” Trophies
14 weight classes (NO 98 lb class—come to our JV Tourney Monday 1/15)
Full food concession
Entry fee of $300 per team. Entrants from “one man collaborative” schools are permitted at $20/wrestler. If you have “one man team” wrestlers who work out with your participating school, you may bring them. However, if you exceed 14 total entrants, or are able to enter additional JV wrestlers, they will be charged $10/wrestler. Due to difficulty in collecting fees, payment must be made on or before Jan 13, 2024. Any team that has not paid in advance will be responsible for payment at the tournament, and the coach will need to seek reimbursement from his school. A receipt will gladly be issued.
School opens at 7:45AM
Weight Check: 8:00AM—8:15AM (allowance of 2 pounds, so 106 is 108)
Weigh Ins: 8:15 by team (we will be done in about 30 minutes—please don’t be late--if your bus is running late, call (860) 705-2629)
Seed/Scratch Meeting: 8:45AM—9AM (up to 6 wrestlers per weight will be pre-seeded based on returning state medal winners and current season varsity record with byes awarded to top seeds, not drawn).Coaches MUST utilize Flo on-line registration (start Sun 1/7, but complete by 6pm Tue 1/9).
Wrestling will begin around 9:45AM. In 2023, we were done around 6pm.
**Each team is required to provide one (1) table worker at all times. If you do not bring a manager, your wrestlers must share this duty**
Wrestling will continue on 3 mats until the consi semis, with 3 mats for 1st, 3rd and 5th place matches, with limited breaks only at the request of the officials. Each wrestler will get at least 2 matches.
