NOTICE TO ALL TEAMS: SIGNIFICANT HAMPTON ROADS TRAFFIC EVENT 12-15 JAN 2024. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has notified all local Hampton Roads areas the James River Bridge will be closed 12-15 Jan 2024 (VA Duals weekend!) for a scheduled bridge lift cabling replacement. All traffic from the James River Bridge (JRB) will be diverted to the Monitor Merrimack Bridge Tunnel (MMBT) in Suffolk, VA. Teams traveling from the North down I-64E to Hampton should not be significantly affected. Teams traveling from the western side of VA should use I-64E as well. All teams traveling from Isle of Wight, Suffolk, Chesapeake, VA Beach, and South of the State of Virginia that typically use the MMBT should plan on significant delays of an additional 2-2.5 hours or more. Impacts to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) through Norfolk are unknown at this time, but additional delays are highly likely. Please plan ahead!
