Please note that rather than pre-selected brackets, there was an attempt to SEPARATE returning New England placewinners from 2024 who were also among the 6 state champions in 2025, as well as any of the 6 state champions who defeated a returning NE placewinner who was also a 2025 state champ. Wrestlers were separated, not seeded, with the following in mind:
Separation was our ultimate goal. While not perfect, it is our hope that it separates returning NE placers who were 2025 state champions, as well as any 2025 state champs who beat returning NE placers. There were 30 pre-established brackets from which to choose the one that best met our seed criteria. In situations where there were multiple brackets that met criteria, one was randomly chosen from those options.

It DOES NOT consider for separation anyone who was not one of the 6 state champs, even if they were a previous NE placewinner (but does retain the separation of top finishers from same state), or if they may have beaten one of the other state champs.
It DOES NOT always truly seed, but rather "separates" as best as possible utilizing one of the 30 available seed grids, prioritizing the separation of the top 2 seeds, balancing the brackets (top and bottom) with seedable wrestlers, and where possible, avoiding having seeded wrestlers facing other state champions prior to the semi finals. In almost all situations, the top seed appears on "line 1", with the exception of a situation where the need to have seeds 2 and 3 on the opposite side of the bracket from the top seed required the top seed to be on the "bottom line" where you would traditionally see the 2nd seed. This is also why seeds are not shown on the brackets, but rather state placements are indicated. Do not allow the expectation of perfection to impede seeking constant improvement to a process.
