By virtue of your completion of this Electronic Registration, you acknowledge that the activities involved with this event can be very dangerous and may involve the risk of serious injury and/or death and/or property damage. Accordingly, the registrant releases, waives, discharges and will not otherwise sue the Berglund Center facility, or the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, or any of their directors, officers, agents, employees and volunteers involved in the planning and/or execution of this event.

FORMAT 2017 HOKIE OPEN FEATURES TWO DIVISIONS:
1 – FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE DIVISION: geared for 1st and 2nd-year wrestlers (and even less experienced upper classmen) who might not be ready for the OPEN Division. The goal of this division is to provide these individuals MORE opportunity to advance further in an early-season college level tournament.
Both tournaments will be double-elimination in 16/24 man brackets. Wrestle to 6 places on 14 mats. Losers of semi-finals will wrestle for 3rd place; other consolation wrestlers wrestle to 5th place.
RULES NCAA rules - seven minute matches with riding time, including all consolation matches.
CHECK-IN ALL Coaches and non-rostered / unattached wrestlers ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN and pick up their Team / Competitor packets on Saturday evening, November 4th, at the Berglund Center. Team packets will contain passes for coaches, wrestlers, trainers and managers and will be available from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Open mats will be available that same evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on four mats at the Berglund Center.

PAYMENT ONLINE ONLY!!Registrations andPayments must be made in full at the time of registration. Only scratches made before Sunday, October 29, 2017 will be refunded. Scratched entries ON OR AFTER October 29 WILL NOT be refunded. Streamlined, limited registrations allow us to set up and run the tournament in a way that insures an early end to the tournament, allowing teams to be on their way as early as possible on Sunday afternoon.
$40 per wrestler, ALL entries must be REGISTERED and PAID online via the Hokie Open Wrestling web site http://www.hokieopen.com by 11:59 PM, Tuesday, October 31st, 2017. Payments may be made with major credit cards. Seeding information must accompany your entry for any wrestlers that you would like to be considered for a seed. IF YOU HAVEN’T PAID, YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED and won’t be in the brackets for weigh-in.
You must pay your entry fee ONLINE when you register. Any exceptions MUST be approved by Coach Robie in advance of the 11:59 PM, Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 deadline.
ADMISSION $15 for adults, $5.00 for HS students, pre-HS free. Some seating available, bring folding chairs.

CHANGES Change of Weight Class or Division must be made BEFORE 8:00 PM Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Scratch deadline is Saturday, October 28, 2017. Any one not making their designated weight at Sunday weigh-in will be forfeited; no bracket changes will be made after 8:00 PM Saturday, November 7th.
