The Cyclones placed fourth at the 2024 NCAA Championships, and Iowa finished fifth, but it’s been a long time since Iowa State won a dual. Then coach Bobby Douglas led his team past the Jim Zalesky-led Hawkeyes for a 19-16 win on December 5, 2004.
It’s been all Iowa since, with the Hawkeyes owning a 69-16-2 historical lead.
Iowa is off to a fast start, posting a 3-0 record without giving up double-digit points in any dual. Iowa State hasn’t used its best lineup, is 1-1. It fell to Stanford 23-21 on November 8, a team Iowa defeated the following day, 32-9.

First Period: Petersen attempted a head shuck but no score halfway through the period. Meza scores a takedown on a go-behind with 20 seconds left and rides out the period for a 3-0 lead.
Second period: Petersen starts on bottom. Meza has the leg in and appears committed to the ride. Meza still riding halfway through the period. Stall warning against Mesa with 48 seconds left. Meza called for stalling again giving Petersen his first point. Meza rides out Petersen the entire period.
Third period: Meza chooses bottom and escapes in one second for a 4-1 lead. Petersen hits a low single, Meza counters and nearly has a cradle but no score with 11 seconds left. Meza wins, 5-1 win rididing time.

First period: Ayala hits a single and converts for a 3-0 lead with 1:44 left. Forst gets to his feet and escapes with 1:29 left. Ayala catches an ankle but doesn't convert, still 3-1 as time expires.
Second period: Frost chooses bottom and Ayala stays tough as action goes out of bounds with 1:38 left. Frost escapes, cutting the lead to 3-2. Frost has a head to the inside shot and converts for a three-point takedown with one minute left for a 5-3 lead. Ayala escapes, making it 5-4.
Third period: Ayala chooses bottom and escapes in 12 seconds, making it 5-5. Ayala hits a single and converts after 15 seconds for an 8-6 lead after a Frost escape. Ayala hits a slide-by for an 11-6 lead with 35 seconds left. Frost escapes with 25 seconds left, making it 11-7.

141: #21 Zach Redding, Iowa State dec. Ryder Block, Iowa, 5-4
First period: Block sores a three-point takedown with 1:25 left and starts working on top. Redding escapes with 35 seconds left.
Second period: Redding chooses bottom and gets to his feet and Block brings him back down, but Redding escapes as the action goes out of bounds. Redding hits a head-to-the-inside single and converts with 55 seconds left for a 5-3 lead. Redding rides out Block for the remainder of the period.
Third period: Block chooses bottom and Redding puts the leg in as action spills out of bounds with 1:25 left. Block escapes with 1:01, making the score 5-4 in favor of Redding. Stall warning against Redding but he holds on for a 5-4 win.

149: #4 Kyle Parco, Iowa dec. #6 Anthony Echemendia, Iowa State, 4-3
First period: No score halfway through the period. No serious attempts and no score.
Second period: Echemendia picks neutral and scores on a body lock for a 3-0 lead. A quick escape by Parco makes it 3-1.
Third period: Parco starts on bottom. Bricks from both corners fly on a potential locked hands call, but it's called an officials' review. Parco receives a point for locked hands and an illegal cutback against Echemendia, making the score 4-3 in favor of Parco after an escape. Parco holds on for a 4-3 win.

First period: No action halfway through the period. No score.
Second period: Teemer starts on bottom and escapes in 15 seconds. Teemer appears injured on the exchange and finally takes injury time with 1:30 left. Johnson gets his choice after injury time and picks bottom. Intentional release makes it 1-1. Johnson converts a single with a minute left as action goes out of bounds. Johnson wins by injury default after Teemer can't continue.

First period: Caliendo hits a single but Euton counters out. Still neutral with two minutes left. Caliendo hits a straight single and Euton hips out again. No score. Still neutral with 1:20 left. Euton hits a straight single and gets a three-point takedown on neutral danger but Caliendo reverses, making it 3-2. Euton gets to his feet and escapes with 10 seconds left for a 4-2 lead.
Second period: Caliendo chooses bottom and gets a reversal in 15 seconds, tying the score 4-4. Euton is hurt as he rolls out for an attempted escape and takes injury time. Escape was awarded, making the score 5-4 but Caliendo starts on bottom after the injury and escapes, making it 5-5. Caliendo gets extended on a shot and a stalemate is called with 1:01 left. Caliendo fires off another straight single and a stalemate is called immediately. Stall warning on Euton.
Third period: Euton starts on bottom. and escapes in five seconds, making the score 6-5. Euton gets to the leg but Caliendo counters, giving him the 8-6 lead with a minute left. Euton escapes with 36 seconds left, making the score 8-7 but action stops for blood time on Caliendo. Caliendo gets to the legs and converts to a double for a 12-7 win with riding time.

Third period: Kennedy starts on bottom and escapes in nine seconds for a 13-3 lead. Action call out of bounds on a Kennedy shot. Kennedy converts a single for a 16-4 lead after an escape by Riggins. Stall warning on Riggins. Kennedy gets to a low shot and converts for a 19-4 tech with one second left.

Ferrari hits another shot and converts for a takedown and a 7-1 lead. Stall warning on Ferrari at the end of the period for dropping down to a leg.
Third period: Bockman starts on bottom. Bockman escapes with 1:38 left, making the score 7-2. Ferrari hits a low single, comes out the back door, but Bockman gets a stalemate on a whizzer with 50 seconds left. Ferrari gets to another low single, comes out the back door but potentially dangerous is called. Ferrari hits a straight single and drives it out of bounds for a stall call and an 8-2 win.
