The past two seasons the University of Iowa has found itself behind a Penn State program that is coming on strong. Cael Sanderson and the Penn State Nittany Lions have compiled a group of blue chip recruits in a strong state and are regarded by many as a school that could be on top for a while. The Iowa Hawkeyes have a long tradition of winning and here we get to see how the Tom Brands and Terry Brands are getting their Iowa wrestling team ready to get back on top.

Tom Brands is easily rated as one of the top intensity wrestlers this sport has ever seen. His work ethic has rarely, if ever, been matched on the mat. In college, Brands was a force for the Iowa Hawkeyes, capturing the "Gablesque" mentality of the sport by constantly attacking and putting pressure on his opponents. Tom Brands was a four time All-American and three time NCAA national champion in college. He built off his collegiate success and competed for the U.S. in freestyle. Brands won the Gold medal at both the World Championships in 1993 and at the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996.He continues today as the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeye program to lead the new generation of Iowa wrestlers.Terry Brands

Terry Brands is one of the most intense competitors the United States ever put on the mat. He earned two World Championship Titles and took a bronze in the 2000 Olympics. In college Terry was a huge force along with his twin brother Tom. He was a 3x NCAA finalist and 2x NCAA Champion. Currently Terry Brands coaches the USA wrestling team.
