Admission: We typically do not charge for MS events, but we do have to charge for this events entry to help with the costs of officials, hospitality room, and awards. Please inform your fans know they will be a charged admission (cash only) so there are no surprises. Have all individuals enter in the gym entrance of the school not in front of the school. The school will open at 8am for teams to enter and for spectators at 8:30am.
Adults: $8.00
Student/Seniors $6.00
Team Areas: We will have all teams have their gear in the commons (Cafeteria) area. Find a table for each school, make sure all schools have a table. We would like more room in the stands of the gyms for the spectators if possible.
Weigh-In: Coaches will weigh in their wrestlers and enter them into Track Wrestling by Wednesday (December 18th). We will not have weigh-ins on site, and all students wrestling on Saturday need to be in by Wednesday No Exceptions! Brad Charvet will be the person on-site running the brackets on Track Wrestling if you have any questions. Once he gives me the instructions I will send them out to all coaches.
Coaches Meeting: The coaches` meeting will be held at 8:30 am in the aux gym located first gym on the right when entering GHS.
Tournament Format:
We plan to run an 8-person double elimination bracket for each weight class on 5 mats in our gyms. (Each wrestler can get up to 4 matches total per WIAA rules).
Tournament Start Time: We plan to start the first matches at 9:30 am
Match Length:
Championship Bracket: Three, 1:30 minutes rounds
Consolation Bracket: Three, 1:00 minute rounds
Seeding: Seeding will be taken care of prior to the tournament. Coaches are asked to enter their lineups in Track Wrestling by Wednesday, December 18th. The wrestlers` list must include their name, grade, weight, and rank (1-3, with 1 being experienced, 2 being moderately experienced, and 3 being new to the sport). Only your level 1 wrestlers are counted for team scoring this year. Our breakdown is Level 1 will only wrestle 1?s or 2?s- Level 2 could wrestle 1?s, 2?s, or 3?s, and Level 3 can only wrestle 3?s and 2?s. We will try to match 3 vs 3 as much as possible.
Communication: We will be running all TVs and screens throughout the school so wrestlers can see when they are wrestling. Our announcer will be broadcast throughout the two gyms and in the commons area.
Hospitality Room: Food, snacks, and beverages will be provided for coaches, officials, bus drivers, the Police department, first responders, and tournament workers throughout the day.
Food: A concession stand will be open in the commons area of the high school throughout the tournament. This concession stand will only take cash.
Tee-Shirt Sales: We will have a Local company here selling custom shirts and other items.
Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams, determined by team scoring and the most outstanding wrestler voted by the coaches. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 placers of each weight class bracket, and 4 places will receive a ribbon. All awards will be done in the commons stage area toward the end of the tournament.
Our goal is to provide your team with a well-run, competitive tournament that will allow your wrestlers to display their skills, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. We look forward to hosting your wrestlers and are hoping this can become an annual event for our middle school wrestlers.
Sincerely,
Joe Mora
