North Charleston High School is eager to serve as the host for this year’s A-AA Lower State individual wrestling championships. This is North Charleston’s first opportunity to host this tournament and we look forward to making it a worthy and enjoyable competition for all athletes, coaches and spectators.

Seeding meeting: the seeding meeting will take place at North Charleston High School’s auditorium on Tuesday, February 13th at 10:00 am. Please contact Raymond Knauer, athletic director, by Monday, February 12th to indicate if you will/will not be in attendance. Those not planning to be in attendance will need to email their wrestlers’ information to Raymond Knauer by the end of business, Monday, February 12th to ensure that it has been submitted into Flowrestling. Wrestlers with 10 or more matches this year and an overall winning record will be seeded according to traditionally-used criterion.

All wrestlers without 10 or more matches and/or not having an overall winning record will be drawn at random.
Tournament details: 3 regulation mats will be utilized for the duration of the tournament through the end of the consolation finals. All championship matches will be held on the center mat with mat lighting following the introduction of all finalists and weight classes. The top 4 finishers will be recognized at the end of the tournament with medals being awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Champions will receive their tournament bracket as a keepsake.
Weigh-ins: Weigh-ins will occur by team Friday (3:00 pm-4:30 pm) and by weight class Saturday (8:00 am - 9:00 am) with 2 scales for efficiency. Weigh-ins will take place in the locker room immediately to the left upon entering the gymnasium. After weighing in, wrestlers will proceed through to the adjacent locker room to exit. Wrestling will begin at 4:45 pm Friday and 9:15 am Saturday.
Locker Rooms: Locker rooms to the far right of the entrance of the gymnasium will be available for wrestlers’ use to change as needed. Locker rooms will be closed and locked following weigh-ins each day.
Medical Staff: Two Roper St. Francis athletic trainers will be on site throughout the duration of the tournament as needed for medical aid.
Bus Parking: Ample bus parking is available on the back side of the school and can be accessed from East Montague Avenue. All wrestlers and coaches will need to enter through the main entrance to the school on Jenkins Avenue under the flagpole. It is recommended that you have your bus driver drop you off and then drive around to the bus lot to secure the bus. Otherwise, teams will have to walk from the bus parking lot around the side of the building to the main entrance.
Spectator entry fees: Daily entry fees for all spectators will be $6/ day. All guests will enter through the main entrance of the gym on Jenkins Avenue, under the flagpole. All SCHSL coaches pass holders will be asked to show identification.
Concessions: A full concession stand will be available for the duration of the tournament Friday and Saturday. North Charleston High School does not permit outside food or drinks to be brought in.
Hospitality: A hospitality area will be available in the cafeteria directly next to the gymnasium for all athletic directors, coaches, and referees only. A staff member will be stationed in the cafeteria to assist. Wristbands will be distributed for those named above.
Coolers: All coolers must be stored in the cafeteria, directly next to the gymnasium. A staff member will be stationed in the cafeteria to assist as needed. Coolers will be stored away from the immediate hospitality setup.
Lodging: There are more than enough hotels in the immediate area near the North Charleston Coliseum and Charleston International Airport, all within 5 miles of North Charleston High School. The following hotels have favorable pricing, but many options exist otherwise. There are many excellent dining opportunities near the school in Park Circle as well as near the hotels in and around Tanger Outlets
