This tournament is dedicated to the memory of Glenn Sample who died suddenly on Friday, November 22. Glenn was an All-American linebacker and varsity baseball player at Cincinnati University. After graduation he served as wrestling coach, baseball coach, and assistant athletic director at UC and for 29 years was the official scorer for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. For many years Glenn was a wrestling official and worked to recruit new officials and helped organize the greater Cincinnati Wrestling Officials Association. He also recruited wrestling coaches for local high schools. Glenn founded the UC Invitational Wrestling Tournament for local high schools which has now became the S.W.O.W.C.A. - GLENN SAMPLE CLASSIC. The tournament features 24 high school teams from greater Cincinnati, one from Beavercreek, one from Reynoldsburg, one from Indiana (Mater Dei), and one from Kentucky (Ryle). Wrestling begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. In two gyms with two championship and two consolation rounds on eight mats. The four lower weights (103,112,119,125) will be on two mats in the smaller gym while all upper weights, starting at 130 pounds, will be on six mats in the main gym. Wrestling resumes Saturday on six mats in the mail gym at 10:00 a.m. and finals for 1st, 3rd, and 5th places at 5:45 p.m. Data on teams and rosters with records and seed data are now on-line but may be changed by coaches. Brackets will not be available under after weigh-ins on Friday.
