Classic 8/Greater Metro JV Conference

Info
2010 Classic 8/Greater Metro JV Conference Tournament We are proud to bring you the 1st annual Classic 8/Greater Metro Conference JV Wrestling Tournament! The goal of the format of this tournament is to highlight the 16 wrestlers at each weight class (and therefore creating a 16 man bracket with wrestlebacks to 5th place) while also provide an opportunity for each additional JV wrestler to enter the tournament in a round-robin bracket with opponents from other schools and at a similar weight class. With your help as well as the help of the conference teams, tournament workers, and Waukesha West support staff, we hope to bring you a tournament that exceeds your expectations. We are committed to providing an extremely enjoyable and competitive tournament, and your feedback is greatly appreciated. All wrestlers finishing first in their 16 man bracket will receive gold medals, and all wrestlers finishing 2nd and 3rd in their 16 man bracket will receive silver and bronze medals respectively. Furthermore, all undefeated wrestlers in the round robin brackets will receive a gold medal. Finally, good sportsmanship is a priority in both the Classic 8 and Greater Metro conferences and at Waukesha West High School. We encourage all of you to cheer loudly and proudly for your team, not against the other teams or officials, and to please remain in the stands so as to avoid distractions to the table workers, officials, athletes, and coaching staffs. On behalf of the students, staff, administration and support staff of Waukesha West High School, we would like to welcome you to the 1st annual Classic 8 Conference/Greater Metro Conference JV tournament. --Mike Mueller, tournament manager --Dale Van Keuren, head wrestling coach Waukesha West High School --Todd Hencsik, Asst. Principal for Athletics at Waukesha West H. S. 2010 Classic 8/Greater Metro JV Conference Wrestling Tournament Saturday, January 30th, 2010 Competing Teams: Arrowhead, Brookfield Central, Brookfield East, Catholic Memorial, Kettle Moraine, Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee Marquette, Milwaukee Pius, Mukwonago, Sussex Hamilton, Waukesha, North, Waukesha South, Waukesha West, West Allis Central, and West Allis Hale Time Schedule: 8:00 Weigh In 1:30-2:00 Lunch Break 8:30 Coaches Meeting 2:00-5:30 Rounds 4 & 5 9:30- 1:30 Rounds 1, 2 &3 With the exception of weigh ins, times are tentative. We will move along as needed and try to stay on or ahead of schedule. Format: We will be using Trackwrestling to conduct, essentially, 2 different tournaments at the same time. To that end, we will have 4 mats used for the tournament and run 2 different coaches meetings. The first meeting will consist of seeding the 16 man brackets. Once that is done, we can create the round robin brackets based on the remaining wrestlers available. Invitations from Trackwrestling will be forthcoming. On mats 1 and 2 we will be running the 16 man brackets. Each school is allotted 1 person to enter each of the 16 man brackets. Wrestlers need to make weight to be eligible for the weight class and coaches need to provide accurate JV records so we can adequately seed the brackets. It is up to each school to decide who they want to represent the 16 man bracket. It is our hope that each school puts in their best JV athlete at each weight class so as to ensure a bracket that is as competitive as possible. If there are spots open we can fill those up with other quality wrestlers, but those wrestlers will not be seeded above the other wrestlers. On mats 3 and 4 we will be conducting the round robin brackets. Of the remaining JV wrestlers, we will pool them in 4 or 5 man round-robin brackets. They may be moved around in weight class so as to fill up round robin pools/avoid too many kids from similar schools wrestling each other. This way, every wrestler is participating in the tournament and is rewarded for a long season of hard work and dedication. We will move matches to other mats if 1 of the 2 brackets concludes early in the round (ie move the round robins to mats 1 and 2 during the first round because the 16 man brackets were done early due to byes). Lineup: Coaches, please submit your wrestlers in Trackwrestling per the forthcoming directions you receive from them. We will move/seed all wrestlers into their appropriate brackets at the seeding meeting. IMPORTANT! Please be sure to include an accurate record so as to expediate the seeding process as quickly as possible. Admission: $5 for adults and $3 for students. Concessions: Concessions will be available from the Waukesha West Booster Club. Please keep all food and beverages in the designated eating areas only, and please help us by cleaning up after yourselves. Locker Rooms: Locker rooms will be assigned upon arrival. It is the responsibility of each school to monitor its student-athletes and their assigned locker room. There will be a limited number of lockers available, and all locker rooms will be locked during wrestling rounds.
