To: Athletic Directors and Head Wrestling Coaches of the GMC From: Corey Golla, Brookfield East Athletic and Activities Director Date: January 18th, 2012 RE: GMC 2012 Wrestling Championships Hosted by Brookfield East High School on February 3, 2012 Tournament Time Schedule: 1:30 PM School open for GMC Wrestlers – Please unload your busses at the west end of the field house for easiest access to the weigh-in area. School is in session until 3:12 PM. Until that time athletes may use the wrestling room and BE wrestling locker room. Areas for teams to congregate will also be marked in the south bleachers in the field house. Access to the building will be limited to the field house, designated locker rooms, the field house lobby, and the wrestling room. At the end of the school day we will open the PE locker rooms for all teams to use as well. Since the locker rooms will be used during the school day and after school for other programs athletes are encouraged to leave valuables (excess money, electronics, etc) at home. 2:00 Weigh-ins start in BE wrestling room. We will have guide signs directing participants to the appropriate areas. 2:30 Coaches meeting in room 146 3:25 Team Introductions & National Anthem 3:30-5:00 Round 1 – Quarter Finals BREAK 5:30-7:30 Round 2 – Semi-Finals; 1st round Wrestle Backs 7:30-8:30 Round 3 – 2nd round Wrestle Backs 8:30-10:30 Round 4 – Finals! 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th place matches wrestled simultaneously. Individual weight class awards will be given during finals matches. NOTE: The above sessions and times are estimates only. Officials: Brett King, Thomas Platner, Gary Teeters, Tony Wilson. Admissions: $5 adults, $4 students/kids/seniors. No Passes accepted!! Managers (2) and cheerleaders in uniforms will be admitted free of charge. Weigh-ins: Weigh-ins will take place in the BC wrestling room. Please enter the school at door S2. You will then be escorted to the weigh-in area. Entries/lineups: Please submit your unofficial roster to Brookfield East on February 1st. Send these to Cheryl Waffenschmidt at waffensc@elmbrookschools.org . Include in this information: the wrestlers’ name, wt. class, year in school, conference record, and overall record. You must submit your “official” line up through Track Wrestling no later than Wednesday night February 1st, 2011 at 9 PM. Coaches Meeting: The coaches meeting will take place in room 146. A complimentary dinner for all coaches, administrators, and meet officials will be available between rounds 1 and 2. We ask that no managers, video helpers, athletes or other personnel eat in this area. Beverages and food will be provided by the BE wrestling parents. This meal will be served in the wrestling room. Team Food: When eating please use the event lobbies and the tables provided. Coolers should be placed in this area upon arrival – this area will be supervised & we will have trash containers for your use. No coolers will be allowed in the gyms. Please do not use the gym as an eating site or try to store coolers in this area. Concessions: The BE athletic booster club will be running a concession stand. We will have an eating area for spectators as well as wrestlers. T-shirts: GMC Wrestling Championship T-shirts will be on sale in the event lobby during the tournament. We will have a limited supply so plan on getting yours’ early. Medical: Joe Ciesynski, LAT from Wheaton Franciscan Rehabilitation Services will be on site the whole event. Seeding/Scoring/Awards: Please refer to the GMC bylaws for seeding, tournament scoring, and awards protocols.
