Consistent to the Western Regional Championships, a cross-bracket semi-final will pair in each weight class the 1st place finisher in from Pool A against the 2nd place finisher from Pool B, and the 1st place finisher from pool B against the 2nd place finisher from pool A. The winners of the cross bracket will wrestle each other in the Championship Finals at 5:00 PM Saturday. AWARDS Awards will be given to the top six placers in each weight class. Team trophies for Club Championship. NATIONAL TEAM QUALIFICATION The top 8 placers in all divisions except Juniors qualify automatically for the Western Regional Kids/Cadet Championships in Pocatello, Idaho in June. Wrestlers must qualify at the weight they intend to wrestle at Western Regionals. Wrestlers who do not automatically qualify must apply through the petition process for any open spots that become available. This tournament is also the official qualifying event for all Utah Freestyle National Teams for Schoolboys, Cadets, and Juniors. Wrestlers must qualify at the weight at which they intend to compete at National Duals and/or at the Asics Cadet & Junior National Championships in Fargo. The champions of the Schoolboy and Cadet divisions win the right to be on the national teams for the national duals events. Junior division champions win the right to represent Team Utah at the Junior Western Duals. Only the top 3 placers in the Cadet and Junior divisions gain automatic qualifying spots for Fargo. In the event that any of the top three placers for Fargo, do not have their National Teams deposits (explained below) paid online by the national teams deposit deadline, any open spots on the national team will be open to the next highest placer in the weight class. In the event the Freestyle State Champion does not have their deposit paid online for the National Duals Teams by the deposit deadline their spot will be open for the Greco State Champion. NATIONAL TEAM DEPOSITS DEADLINE ? payment due online on April 16th at 11:59 PM All deposits for national teams are due April 16th by 11:59 PM. These may be paid at www.trackwrestling.com. Select the event you wish to participate in, register, and then pay at least the minimum deposit to reserve your spot on the national team. At 11:59 PM, April 16th, any spots remaining on the national team will be offered to the other placers in each available weight class. Any weight classes still open will be published on the USA Utah site on Monday, April 18th at www.wrestleutah.com. The minimum required deposits are listed below as well as the dates of the different national events requiring deposits: June 7-13 Schoolboy National Duals in Indianapolis, Indiana ($200 minimum deposit) June 14-19 Cadet National Duals in Daytona Beach, Florida ($200 minimum deposit) June 17-18 Junior Western Duals in Pocatello, Idaho ($50 total cost) June 19-25 Western Regionals in Pocatello, ID for divisions INTERMEDIATE through CADET ($125 total cost with gear) July 14-24 Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota ($250 minimum deposit) LAYOUT, FLOOR ACCESS, AND FACILITIES All rounds will be wrestled on 10 full mats except for the finals in which 6 full mats will be used. Admission is free to spectators and full concessions will be available throughout the tournament. The arena floor is will be accessible only to wrestlers, coaches with an event floor pass, and table help. No spectators will be allowed on the floor except for Fly and Bantam divisions in which one parent with a wristband will be allowed to escort his/her wrestler to their mat when called to the mat for a bout. These FLY and BANTAM parent wristbands will be available for pickup at Athlete Checkin on Friday at 3:00 PM. Adequate room at the base of the lower seating level provides adequate room for those wishing to video tape matches. Media floor passes will be sold on-site for those wishing to gain access to the floor for video or photography purposes only.
