Frank Dobbs Memorial Wrestling Tournament Sponsored by the Friends of Melrose NO PREREGISTRATION—SIGN UP AT THE DOOR Date: Friday, January 25. 2013 Place: Melrose-Mindoro High School [Enter at the field house entrance.] Weigh-Ins: 4:30 - 5:30 [Wrestlers will be weighed in by grades in designated areas.] Wrestling Begins: Immediately Following the Bracketing of the Weights Divisions: Kindergarten / 1st - 2nd (Non-Competitive Only) / 3rd - 4th / 5th - 6th Format: 4-man round robin Entry Fee: $10 fee and parental permission slip (no preregistration and no card is required) Spectator Fee: Adults $3, Children and Students Free Concessions: Hot food and snacks will be served throughout the tournament. Medical Personnel: The First Responders will be on duty throughout the tournament. Awards: K-2 medals / 3-6 trophies for first and medals for third through fourth TOURNAMENT FORMAT Grades K – 2 (Noncompetitive Only) 1) Wrestlers will be organized in a 4-man bracket. If the bracket has four wrestlers, each wrestler will be guaranteed three matches. 2) Each match will consist of three one-minute periods. 3) Wrestlers will remain on the same mat for the entire tournament. No Tears Format - No match score will be kept for these bouts, and all wrestlers will receive a wrestling medal at the completion of the bracket. Grades 3 - 6 1) Wrestlers will be bracketed in a 4-man round robin format. 2) Each match will consist of three one-minute periods. 3) Each period will begin with the wrestlers on their feet. 4) Trophies will be awarded for first place and medals will be awarded for second through fourth place. 5) Ties will be decided using the WIAA tie-breaking protocol (1 min. period on the feet, then 30 second periods if needed). No Headlock Rule for Grades K - 6: Headlocks used as a takedown or as a pinning combination will be treated as a potentially dangerous hold. If a wrestler uses the position on his feet, the match will be stopped then restarted. If a wrestler is in a pinning combination and the maneuver ends up in a headlock position, pin points will be awarded (so long as pinning criteria has been met) and the wrestlers will be restarted from the down position.
