window Rock high school 2018 5th AnNUal Veterans MEMORIAL Invitational TO: Athletic Directors and Wrestling Coaches FROM: Marc Hillis, Window Rock Wrestling Coach RE: 5th Annual Veterans Memorial Wrestling Invitational December 14th and 15th, 2018 Window Rock High School, Fort Defiance, AZ Teams: First 36 teams to be determined upon acceptance of our invitation Weights: Day 1 WEIGHTS: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285 Day 2 WEIGHTS: 107, 114, 121, 127, 133, 139, 146, 153, 161, 171, 183, 196, 221, 286 Girls Weights (Day 1 only): 101, 110, 118, 125, 130, 135, 145, 160, 185, 225 FORMAT: Team duals tournament. 36 teams will be divided into 6 pools of six teams in a series of duals, five duals per team on Day 1 and five duals on Day 2 to determine team placing. Every wrestler will have a minimum of 10 matches. We will wrestle on eight mats on day one and ten mats on day two. We can fit secondary wrestlers into the tournament as extras on teams with gaps in their lineups. They won?t score team points but will get mat time. Awards: Team trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place (based on dual results). We will have; a team Sportsmanship Plaque (as voted on by the referees), individual medals for the championship team. Outstanding Wrestler for Upper, Middle, and Lower weight classes (as voted by the coaches), will receive Fight Shorts. Awards will be presented by WRHS Dineh Club. GIRLS FORMAT: Individual bracket, the first two rounds will be single elimination (16 wrestler bracket only) but we will have a ?fishnet? pool to at least get two matches for those knocked out of the bracket. It looks like we?ll end up with quite a few girls but we don?t want to stretch ourselves out too thin. We only have two mats to run the Girls VMI. Brackets with 8 or 12 should run normally. They will receive individual medals (1st ? 4th) and top two teams will earn team plaques, and there will be one Team Sportsmanship Award. Girls Outstanding Wrestlers will also earn fight shorts (3). COACHES: PLEASE ENTER YOUR GIRLS INTO ONLY ONE TOURNAMENT. IF YOU WANT THEM IN THE BOYS TOURNAMENT, THAT IS FINE BUT THEY CAN?T DO BOTH.
