WWF Youth Regional - 2017 instructions
Welcome to the 2017 WWF Youth Regional hosted by the Bay Port Wrestling Club. Please use this as a guide for registration and also for some other useful information. This document is provided as a convenience only - please refer to WWF for all tournament rules and requirements.
Registration:
1. You must have a valid USA Card. If you don?t have a USA Card this should be the first thing you get. Proceed to the Union.
2. A valid USA Card must be physically presented at the time of registration.
3. If you?ve pre-registered on-line, or by mail, go to the pre-registered area to pick-up your weight-in card..
4. If you?re haven?t pre-registered, complete the registration form and the waiver of liability and go to the walk-in area where
you will complete the registration process and receive a weigh-in card.
5. Age Requirement: Must be born in 2009 or later. If a wrestler is born in 2002, they cannot be enrolled in ninth grade.
6. Residency requirement: Wrestler must reside in and/or be enrolled in a Wisconsin School to compete.
7. Girls Divisions All girls need to wrestle in the Girl?s Divisions, they cannot wrestle in the Boy?s Divisions. There are 3 Age
Divisions for the Girls with weight divisions just as the boys. The girls need to make the weight class they qualified for at the State Championships just as the boys.
Weigh-Ins:
1. Wrestlers must wear a singlet to weigh-in and the singlet counts towards their weight, no weighing in naked. USAW Req.
2. There will be no giving of weight either, not even a tenth of a pound. The weight classes that are listed are the maximum
that you can weigh in that class except in the plus weight groups listed on the high end of the divisions.
3. Wrestlers may go up one weight class from the one they qualify for. The desired weight class must be noted on the
weigh-in card and please have the weigh-in people write ?Going Up? on the card so you know that is what they want and
not a mistake.
2. Once you pick up your weigh-in card from the registration area you must weigh-in.
8. Go to the weigh-in area, which is near the NE corner of the commons (registration area)
9. You may weigh-in as often as you like prior to 8:00pm, however weigh-ins close at 8:00.
10. We will also be enforcing the following: 1) Hair length rule for Boys and Girls. The hair must be off the collar in back, not
be below the ear lobe on the side or the eyebrows in front. If it is too long they must get it cut or wear a bonnet. 2) Finger nails must be properly groomed. 3) Girls must wear a female cut singlet or wear an approved undergarment underneath their singlet.
Wrestling:
1. Rules: Period Length: Boys born 2004 - 2009 and all Girls Ages will be 3x60 second periods. Boys born 2003-2003 will be 3x90 second periods. WIAA rules will prevail elsewhere. 15 minutes minimum rest between matches.
2. A wrestler missing a match will receive a forfeit
3. Wrestling Start Times: Starting time for the boy?s age groups Born in 2008-2009 and Born in 2006-2007 and all
Girl Divisions is 8:30am. Boy age groups Born in 2002-03 and Born in 2004-05 starting time is Noon or later.
4. All wrestlers must wear singlet, shoes that are taped, mouth guards for dental braces/corrective apparatus, and bonnets for excessive hair. Girls must wear a female cut singlet or wear an approved undergarment underneath their singlet.
5. All braces, guards, or special equipment must not restrict a joint and cannot be abrasive or sharp.
6. All scoring errors must be resolved prior to the competitors leaving the mat area; the head official will have the final
decisions in these situations and no video review will be permitted. Once the wrestler or wrestlers leave the mat area,
there is no opportunity for scoring corrections.
7. BULL-PEN/CALL TO / MAT ASSIGNMENT DISPLAYS : Wrestlers will be called to the bull-pen (wrestling room), by
groups according to their bout number. It will be important for your child to listen for his/her bout number and report to the bull-pen when called. Additionally, we will be using Mat Assignment Displays in the gym for athletes and parents/coaches to track bout numbers and mats. Bout numbers will appear on the mats assignment displays, your name will be highlighted in WHITE (IN THE HOLE), followed by YELLOW (ON DECK), followed by GREEN (ON THE MAT WRESTLING). WRESTLERS WILL BE RELEASED TO THEIR MAT WHEN THEIR BOUT APPEARS YELLOW ON THE MAT SIDE DISPLAY
11. Coaches/Parents: We require that only one adult report to the warm-up/bull pen area with each wrestler.
12. Only three people will be allowed at mat side with each wrestler. There will be chairs at each mat; anyone not in a
chair will be asked to leave mat side and watch from the stands. Our goal is to make this event more enjoyable for the
wrestlers, fans, medical staff, officials, and table workers. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Awards (AWARDS WILL BE HANDLED IN THE UNION ROOM - NEXT TO THE COMMONS):

2. When the last match takes place for your chart there will be an announcement requesting that the top 4 wrestlers report to
the awards area (Union Room located in the commons).

your awards. If you plan on not attending the state tournament, please make this known at this time so that we can
contactthe3r d placefinisherandinformthemthattheycanattendthetournamentinyourplace.
4. NOTE - IN ORDER TO BE ALLOWED MATSIDE TO COACH AT THE WWF KIDS FOLKSTYLE STATE
CHAMPIONSHIPS, ONE MUST BE A CURRENT USA WRESTLING COACH MEMBER AND HAVE A COPPER (OR HIGHER) COACHING CERTIFICATION. THIS INCLUDES PARENTS, CLUB COACHES, ETC.
Individuals 18 years of age and older must successfully complete a mandatory background check before
purchasing USA Wrestling Coaches Membership. Please allow 10-14 business days for the background check process, as USA Wrestling Coaches Memberships will not be available on-site. For more information go to www.wiwrestlingfederation.com
