2022 BEARCAT JR. HIGH WRESTLING CLASSIC

1. Tournament Date: Saturday, December 10, 2022

2. Teams: Altoona, Berlin Brothers Valley, Brookville, Cedar Cliff, Chestnut Ridge, Dubois, Huntingdon, Juniata Valley, Mifflin County, Mt. Union, Northern Bedford, Penn Cambria, Spring Cove, Southern Huntingdon, Tyrone, and West Branch.

3. Site: Huntingdon Area Senior High School Gymnasium

4. Skin Checks/Weigh-Ins: 7:30 AM. All teams are to be present at the start of weigh-ins. Please bring your weigh-in sheets from www.nwcaonline.com and any PIAA Skin Forms for any questionable skin issue.

5. Sessions: Start time is 9:00 AM on 4 mats. Wrestling will go straight through with a possible break before the finals. Modified wrestle-backs with the losers of semi-finals wrestling for 3rd & 4th and the losers of the prelim. & quarter-final rounds wrestling for 5th and 6th. This is to eliminate the possibility of a wrestler wrestling more than 5 matches (which violates a PIAA rule).

6. Awards: Medals for the top 4 in each weight class and certificates for 5th & 6th. In addition to team trophies for the top 3 teams.

7. Entry Fee: Participation in this tournament is contingent upon receipt of a $300 entry fee payable to the Huntingdon Wrestling Booster Club. This payment should be sent to the following address: Huntingdon Area High School, 2400 Cassady Ave., Huntingdon, PA 16652 Attention: Huntingdon Wresting Coach – Jon Mykut.

Payment is due by September 9th, 2022.

8. Admission: One admission for the entire tournament. Five dollars for adults and two dollars for students.

9. Food: Food will be on sale in the cafeteria starting at 7:00 AM. Breakfast will be available this year. Approximately 20 meals will be provided per school with each school assuming the cost of its own meals. You will be given meal tickets at weigh-ins and billed for the total number used. Schools may pay at the tournament or forward the payment by mail. Please forward approximate meal count at least 1 week ahead of time! Breakfast $6.00 – French Toast Sticks, Egg Patty, Sausage Links, Hash Browns, Fruit, & Milk or Juice.

10. Coaches Meeting: Coaches will meet briefly at 8:45 AM in the hospitality room (Room 142).

11. Seeding: Will be done by tournament officials. Using this year’s Jr. High record, last year’s Jr. High record and any places in PAJW States, Keystone States or MAWA - Eastern Nationals. Any 7th graders without PAJW, Keystone, or MAWA credentials will be placed in a random draw. Records included should be PIAA Jr. High records only.

12. Line-ups – Coaches will enter line-ups into FloArena. All line-ups must be entered no later than noon on Thursday, December 8th. Enter a starter at each weight and a JV (non-scorer) at each weight. Note that we will allow JV wrestlers on a random basis until a bracket is filled with 16 wrestlers. Coaches will be notified Friday, December 9th by 3 PM which JV Wrestlers were included in the brackets. Once line-ups are submitted, only scratches and substitutions will be allowed; no changes of weight classes.
