Bantam, Intermediate, Novice, and Middle School divisions. Girls divisions will be paired matside between sessions ($5). If payment is not made at time of registration, an administration fee of $10 will be assessed at the head table.
Age Groups:
(5) (6-7-8) (9-10) (11-12) (13-14, 15 with proof currently in 8th grade). Your age group is determined by the age you will be on your birthday in 2020.
Weigh in times:
For Club tournaments: 5 to 10 year olds (7:30 - 8:30 am) 11-15 year olds (10:30 - 11:30 am)
For RI State tournament: 5 to 15 year olds (7:30 - 9:00 am). All wrestlers must weigh in during this time!!!
Weigh-in Procedure - For Club Tournaments: Madison weights (weight groups determined by registration weight) apply. For the State Tournament: Bantam will use madison weights. Intermediate, Novice and Middle School must make weight for the weight class you pre-registered for. You will not be allowed to bump up a weight class. If you don`t make weight, you will be scratched from the tournament.
Skin Checks: Skin checks will be conducted as part of weigh-ins. Any wrestler with a questionable skin condition must provide a doctor`s authorization to wrestle using the NFHS form (http://www.nfhs.org/media/882323/2018-19_nfhs_wrestling_skin_lesion_form_may_2018.pdf).
RI Kid`s State Championship eligibility rule: Wrestlers must live in RI. Wrestlers must have competed in at least two of the RIWA tournaments to be eligible for the RI Kid`s State Championship. No late or on-site registrations at this event.
Weight classes follow the official USA Wrestling age and weight classes (http://content.themat.com/forms/Weights.pdf). Note that our Middle School Division is the USA Schoolboy Division modified to allow 8th grade Middle School participation. Team scores will be calulated using only one scoring wrestler per team in each weight class.
Split Tournament Times:
5 year olds will wrestle at 8:30 am (matside ad hoc pairing by Athletic director). 6-7-8 year olds and 9-10 year olds will wrestle from 9:00 - 12:00 noon.
11-12 year olds, middle school and high school wrestlers will wrestle from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm
Pre-Registration and entry fee:
You must pre-register for all RIWA tournaments by going to https://www.usawmembership.com. Registration closes at 5PM the day before the tournament, and are non-refundable.
Entry fee must be paid on-line during the registration process. Bring the pre-registration receipt for proof. Late registration will be permitted only after payment of a $10 administrative fee.
Headgear Rule:
All wrestlers at any USA Wrestling event must wear headgear.
OUT OF STATE TEAMS AND WRESTLERS ARE WELCOME AT ANY RIWA TOURNAMENT EXCEPT FOR OUR STATE TOURNAMENT
USA Wrestling cards are required for all participants at all RIWA Tournaments. Cards expire each year on August 31st. Membership Cards can only be purchased online at https://www.USAWmembership.com. Coaches must have a valid 2020 USAWrestling Coaches Card to be on any mat.
RIWA Multi Wrestler Family Discount: RIWA has instituted a Multi Wrestler Family discount. 1. All wrestlers must be related and living in the same household. 2. A printed copy of the registration receipt along with valid USA Wrestling Cards must be presented to the designated official during the tournament between the hours of 11am and 12pm. Inquire at the door for further instructions. 3. Upon verification the designated RIWA representative will reimburse the family in accordance with the following fee schedule:
Cost per wrestler for a multi wrestling family:
RIWA has standardized spectator entry fees to RIWA tournaments.
$3 for 18 and older, Under 18 is free.

NOTE: Any HS wrestler is eligible to compete in any RIWA Tournament during your HS wrestling season to include the Freshman, JV, or State Championship, provided he/she has a USAWrestling card. This is a rule approved by the RIIL.
