COVID protocol for MS Wrestling
Games
? Two matches per week
? Sanitizing station available for use during games
? Signage for the meet with COVID-19 prevention measures ? social distancing, masks, hand sanitizing
? Face coverings to be worn by coaches, support staff and observers at all times, and in compliance with the CDPH Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings.
? Bus transportation ? All riders - athletes, coaches, managers - must wear mask at all times and be socially distanced
Athletes and Coaches
? School teams will stay in bench area when not competing remaining physically distant from other teams
? Self-screening done prior to arrival at games and practice
? Face coverings to be worn when not participating in an activity
? Face coverings to be worn by coaches, support staff and observers at all times, and in compliance with the CDPH Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings.
? Coaches - must wear masks at all times, 6 ft. socially distant from others, frequent hand washing as needed
? Athletes ? When possible, 6 ft. socially distant from others, must wear masks at all times unless participating in heavy exertion activity (wrestling), frequent hand washing as needed
Hydration
? No sharing of drink bottles and other personal items and equipment
? No-touch water refilling station available for personal water containers
Spectators
? For all youth and adult outdoor sports, spectators and observers are permitted pursuant to Outdoor Seated Live Events and Performances.
? Spectators maintain at least 6 feet from non-household members.
? Spectators ? Must wear masks at all times, socially distanced from non-household members. Spectators should stay home if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Hand sanitizer available if needed.
TEAM
? No cuts, weekly participation within the school to establish a ladder by weight divisions.
? Interschool competition one (1) per weight class.
TRANSPORTATION
? Departure time is 1:45pm unless arranged otherwise with transportation (457-3138) and Athletic Director.
SCHEDULE
? Practice, Non-league matches, League Schedule, and a City Final Tournament
OFFICIALS
? One wrestling official will be assigned to each host school per playing dates. Official should be there 30 minutes before match.
? If your official does not show, please call Supervisor Bob Kayajanian (905-3018)
WEIGHT CLASSES
? 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190, 210,265
? Wrestlers can wrestle no more than two weight class above their true weight and should not drop more than one weight class below true weight. This includes forfeit wins.
? A growth allowance of one (1) pound will be added to each weight class after the Thanksgiving break.
RULES
? National Federation Rule Book is available online. FUSD will give 6 points for each forfeit match.
TIME
? Start time of matches will be 3:00 p.m. (subject to change)
LENGTH OF MATCH
? In dual meets or tournament competition, matches shall be three (3) rounds, 90 seconds each.
PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR
? Each wrestler shall wear protective headgear which shall be provided by the school
UNIFORM
? All wrestlers must wear a Fresno Unified school issued singlet/doublet or Fresno Unified school issued PE clothes for matches. No non-school issued or club singlets are NOT allowed in any matches.
? Street clothes (non-athletic) are NOT allowed for any matches.
SHOES
? Wrestling shoes not required. No metal or hard plastic should be on the shoes. Waiver the requirement of high top shoes and eliminate penalty of one (1) point for loss of shoe. Match will be stopped at the appropriate time to replace shoe or tie shoes without penalty
APPEARANCE AND HEALTH
? All wrestlers shall be clean-shaven, with sideburns trimmed no lower than earlobe level and hair trimmed and well groomed. The hair, in its natural state, shall not extend below the top of the ordinary shirt collar in the back; and on the side, the hair shall not extend below earlobe level. A neatly trimmed mustache that does not extend below the line of the lower lip shall be permissible. NOTE: If an individual has hair longer than allowed above, it must be contained in a cover so that the hair rule is satisfied. The cover shall either be a part of the headgear or worn under the headgear. The cover must be of a solid material and be nonabrasive. No swim caps allowed. If the individual has facial hair it must be covered with a facemask. All hair covers and facemasks will be considered as special equipment.
DUAL MEETS SCORE TABLE
? Scorebooks shall be ordered on a requisition from the athletics budget. Ask your A.D.
? An adult overseeing the clock/scorebook
? If there is a tie score at the end of the dual meet, the following criteria will be used to break the tie: (1) The team having won the greater number of matches (including forfeits) shall be declared the winner. (2) if criteria 1 is a tie, then the team having accumulated the greater number of points for falls, defaults, forfeits, or disqualifications shall be declared the winner. For further tie break, see CIF rule book.
MAT SIZE
? Minimum 20?x20? with 5? perimeter safety mats.
MAT CLEANLINESS
? Only coaches or custodian shall mop with disinfectant DAILY.
MAT TAPE
? A minimum of four rolls of 3? mat tape may be ordered from the school budget supply. Ask your A.D.
NOTES
? Minimum length of practice is 1.5 hours daily.
LEAGUE AND TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS
? Team trophy for winner of each league
? Team trophy awarded to City Tournament Team Champion
? Tournament Medals: 1st ? 6th
TOURNAMENT
? Separation criteria:
1. League wins
2. Head to Head
3. Record against first highest opponent. If not broken then 2nd highest, then 3rd highest opponent
4. Coin Flip
SUPERVISION
? One administrator and one teacher from the home school must provide supervision for athletic events at their home site.
ENFORCEMENT AND PROTEST
? All rules, regulations, eligibility, or settlement of disputes and protests follow procedures listed below:
? Protests must be filed in writing within 48 hours of the contest with protesting parties. A protest requires an act that can be protested. Judgment calls cannot be protested.
