The Final X era of the World Team Trials Challenge tournament has a brief but memorable history. A tournament was held in 2018 and 2019 to determine which wrestlers would face each other for the World team spot in each weight class. The format was scrapped for the 2021 World Team Trials since the Olympics were held the same year due to the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games.

The 2021 US Olympic Trials go down this weekend. All the action will be streamed either through NBC Sports Network or NBC's Peackock streaming service. Meanwhile, we'll have a watch party live throughout the trials to keep wrestling fans in the loop. Olympic Trials week is finally here! Before official seeds come out later in the week, I wanted to take my best guess at how the seeding committee will see things. 

The pools are set for the RTC Cup Presented by Titan Mercury where we'll see two days of incredible action. Here's a breakdown of the weight classes and the matches we expect to see during pool competition and how they could set up Saturday's bracket.

57 kg and 65 kg are phenomenal, but I think most people have 125 kg circled as the weight to watch in Cincinnati. Two-time World medalist and NCAA champion Nick Gwiazdowski, three-time age level World champion Gable Steveson, and 2019 Junior World champion Mason Parris headline a phenomenal weight; and all in the same pool.

No other weight class gets its own name. You can be a lightweight or a middleweight, but that just narrows it down to a few possibilities. Only the big guys get an appellation all to their own. And the university that has does the best at producing prodigious pugilists should come as a surprise to exactly no one. 

The 125kg Matteo Pellicone bracket will be small but it has plenty of top talent. With three of the world's top 10 and a handful more high-level competitors, this bracket should be interesting.
