The 2023 Black Knight Invitational features elite NCAA DI action this weekend. Between the host team Army West Point, the defending National Champions Penn State, and several other strong teams making the trip to West Point, there are plenty of reasons to tune in. Before the action goes down, check out some of the top potential matchups that could happen at the Black Knight Invitational.

With the 2021 champ moving up to 165 and the 2022 champ moving on to coaching, 157 has become a weight very much up for grabs. There will be some key guys hopefully healed up, moving up, and coming in. Let’s dig in!

U20 Nationals (formerly known as UWW Junior Nationals) is one of my favorite age-level tournaments every year. The top high school upperclassmen get to test themselves against the best first or second year college guys who are often hungry to compete coming out of redshirt. It's the first step in making the Junior World Team as the winner of this event will earn an automatic berth to the best-of-three wrestle-off series against the World Team Trials challenge tournament champion in June.

It’s Fargo time baby! There’s a whole lot to get into below, so I won’t waste your time with a boring intro. I’m just going to remind you that USA Wrestling uses separation criteria as their way of seeding. So, don’t freak out when brackets come out.

The Fargo team race heated up a little bit this year when Iowa came out on top of Illinois and Oklahoma for their first Junior Duals title since 2005. Fargo can either be a chance for Iowa to ride that momentum to first Junior freestyle title since 2008, Illinois to reclaim its spot atop the Junior freestyle ladder and win its fourth-straight title in the process, or another state to claim the title of best in the country.

Illinois won four-straight Junior freestyle national titles from 2010-2013. Getting back on top in 2017, 18, and 19, the Prairie State is trying to repeat the impressive feat. They’ll be up against some tough competition in Iowa and Pennsylvania, but if this Illinois team wrestles well, they have the talent to at least keep them in contention.

College wrestling fans will have heaps of high quality future D1 athletes to watch this weekend in Virginia Beach, as the NHSCA National Duals have attracted their deepest and most talented teams yet.

As the only entry ranked in the top five, Anthony Ferrari has to be considered the favorite at 152-pounds, but like every other weight, there will be scads of challengers for the belt. Indeed, this bracket may end up being the most chaotic of them all.
