It's hard to overstate how much exciting college wrestling took place this past weekend. All seven conferences held their championships over the last few days and determined the majority of the qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Championships that will take place in less than two weeks in Kansas City, Missouri.

All the usual caveats apply. Whether or not an upset occurred was determined strictly by rankings and results that look like upsets this week may not look like upsets by the end of the season or even by next week.

Several programs will benefit from the transfer portal this season. Most of the top teams look different thanks to key acquisitions. Below is a look at the top wrestlers who transferred during the off-season.

A lot happened in Norman since the 2023 NCAA tournament - former head coach Lou Rosselli resigned, former North Dakota State head coach Roger Kish was selected as his successor, assistants Nick Heflin, Sam Hazewinkel and Mike Lightner left, new assistants Austin Marsden and Cam Sykora were brought in, seven wrestlers hit the transfer portal, and eight wrestlers transferred in. While a lot has happened, I still expect 70% of this year’s starting lineup to either be either back from last year’s lineup or coming off of a redshirt year in Norman.

The Big 12 Wrestling Championships take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma March 4-5. Not only will team and individual conference champions be crowned, but 64 wrestlers will also automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships which will be held in Tulsa two weeks later.

The hits keep coming! More than 50 upsets for the second week in a row!

The first week of the NCAA season saw incredible duals, new emerging stars, and over 50 upsets. Get ready for week two with a list of every D1 wrestling event on the calendar along with a list of every ranked wrestler who could compete in each event. The Iowa Hawkeye's holiday tournament saga final turn will land them in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the 2022 Southern Scuffle. With the cancelation of the Midlands Championships and then the cancelation of the Hawkeye Open, the Hawks needed somewhere to get their nonstarters matches and the Scuffle accepted them in.

The Southern Scuffle is always an exciting way to kickoff the start of the year and it will all start with the lightweights. With 20 ranked wrestlers in the bottom three weights alone, Southern Scuffle will be must watch TV for all college wrestling fans.
