There was no post-National Duals hangover for King University. The Tornado wreaked havoc on the competition at home following a memorable weekend in Louisville, highlighted by a thrilling 23-21 win over North Central in the finals.

Three of four World Championships are complete following a historic performance by the U.S. women’s freestyle team in Belgrade, Serbia. The team finished second behind Japan and crowned three individual World champions and won seven total medals.

Kayla Miracle and Jennifer Rogers had quite a best-of-three series on August 13. Miracle — a 2021 World silver medalist — postponed her Final X match with Rogers due to an injury. The two met in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to determine the 62 kg spot in the upcoming Senior World Championships.

The U20 World Championships parties on its merry way in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the women's freestyle team firing up and occupying the middle portion of the event. The Americans will try to improve on the U17 team's very respectable fourth place showing from earlier this summer and try and match the lofty heights set by last year's team title-winning performance.

U.S. women placed fourth at the U17 World Championships (formerly known as Cadet Worlds) in Rome on the strength of three silver medalists. Erica Pastoriza (43 kg), Gabriella Gomez (46 kg), and Valerie Hamilton (61 kg) reached the finals and all three received invitations to FloWrestling’s Who’s Number One on September 9, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The international wrestling season is in full swing with several major competitions happening in July. Here is what you can expect.

Below are our world team members in all three styles for the upcoming U17 (Cadet) World Championships, to be held in Rome, Italy from July 25-31, and the U20 (Junior) World Championships, to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria from August 15-21.

Final X Stillwater and Final X New York set our 2022 Senior World Team. In some cases, it set our U23 World team, too. All that’s missing is the 62-kilogram senior-level World team spot. Returning silver medalist Kayla Miracle postponed her best-of-three series with Jennifer Page due to an injury. The time and location of the special wrestle-off have not been determined.

The Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, hosted one of the biggest women’s wrestling tournaments in the country over Mother’s Day weekend. Women’s Nationals set the stage for the upcoming age-level World Championships later this year.

Savannah Cosme and Alexis Janiak met in the finals of Women’s Nationals to determine the Cadet World Team spot at 57 kg. Now, they’ll face off once again at Who’s Number One to determine the top spot at 127 lbs in the national rankings.
