Class of 2021 High School Big Board
Junior Big Board
Richard Figueroa (CA) is the New #1 of the junior class. Figueroa is the consensus weight class #1 at 113lbs and owns wins this season over both the second and third ranked wrestlers at 113lbs, Joey Cruz (CA) and #8 Stevo Poulin (NY).
Former top-ranked #5 Alex Facundo (MI) was knocked off by #4 Paddy Gallagher (OH) in a dual. Gallagher was coming off a defeat at Doc Buchanan to #3 Cael Valencia. Valencia also enhanced his resume by moving up a weight class at 5 Counties defeating nationally ranked Max Wilner (CA). This trio solidifies 160lbs as one of the deepest weights at the high school level.
Don’t let #2 Shayne Van Ness (NJ) get lost in this mix as he recently had a dominant win over weight class ranked Drew Munch (PA) after missing the beginning part of the season.
#10 Kyonte Hamilton (MD) is a big mover landing in the top ten. Hamilton is continuing to add to his offensive repertoire and has a frame to grown into a solid 285lber at the next level.
#12 Gary Steen (PA) came from outside the top 150 to land a spot in the top twenty. Steen shook off an outlier performance at Super32 to win both Ironman and Powerade.
The next Junior Big Board update will happen right before NHSCA’s. Which junior will have a breakout state series and climb the board?
