NCAA Rankings 2018-19
Diakomiha-listen Up
Six All-Americans return, making 141 one of the deepest weights. We have those six in the same order at the top.
A wrinkle in the top half comes from Oklahoma State. Of course, we won't know for sure what lineup John Smith will go with until the season starts, and even after that expect changes throughout the season, but for now, we have Kaid Brock penciled in at 141 in the lineup and fourth in the top 20, ahead of Nick Lee. Both Brock and Lee finished fifth last year at the NCAAs, but Brock holds the advantage here as he has only lost to fellow All-Americans, while Lee took a few L's from non-placers. This would also make Kaden Gfeller is the odd man out of the Cowboy lineup, however, nothing at this point is set in stone.
We're expecting Brock Zacherl of Clarion to move up to 149 for his senior year and that's where you will find him ranked.
Bryan Lantry and Mitch McKee are both planning on moving up from 133, but their placement behind all other returning 141 top 20 wrestlers is more evidence for this weight class's depth. Limmex was slightly more consistent than Lantry and McKee, although don't be surprised if either of the latter two wrestlers make big jumps this year.
Tristan Moran was stuck behind some killer Oklahoma State lineups but is expected to be the starter now at Wisconsin. He's got some head scratching losses but also wins over All-Americans Ronnie Perry and Thomas Thorn which earn him a ranking. Max Murin and Kanen Storr are two more wrestlers who were blue-chip recruits and don't yet have the records to warrant a higher ranking but have the talent to make names for themselves in this incredibly challenging weight class. Murin in the lineup means national qualifier Vince Turk won't be starting for the Hawkeyes, but as is the case elsewhere, this is all subject to change once the season gets underway.
Some other bubble guys to look out for are Luke Karam of Lehigh, Nic Gil of Navy and Cam Kelly of Ohio.
*Please note: the original posting of these rankings included Brock Zacherl. He is expected to wrestle at 149 and that is where you can now find him in the rankings.
