57KG - Zaur Uguev

57kg at the Olympics has one heavy favorite and about 10 others with medal potential. Zaur Uguev has been the best guy at the weight for the past three years. He’s a two-time defending world champion and has only lost two matches since 2018. His last loss came in June 2019 to Makhir Amiraslanov (AZE)-who is not currently qualified for the Olympics. 

After Uguev, anyone from Atil to Abdullaev could realistically make the finals. The obvious, strongest contenders will be the past world medalists - Atil, Sanayev, and Kumar. Sanayev and Atli took silver at the world championships to Uguev in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Kumar, the only other world medalist in the field, won bronze at the 2019 World Championships.
