2022 Domestic Women's Freestyle Rankings
65 kilograms
1. There’s been a lot of activity since the last ranking in April. The U.S. Open, U23 Women’s Nationals, the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, and Final X have given us plenty of data to create new rankings. There have been a ton of changes with some younger names making moves and some familiar names winning big matches to climb into top spots.
2. Half of the weights have new top-ranked wrestlers: Dominique Parrish at 53 kg, Abby Nette at 59 kg, Mallory Velte at 65 kg, Amit Elor at 72 kg, and Dymond Guilford at 76 kg are all new names at the top.
3. We took a few names off due to inactivity. If a wrestler didn’t have any action since last year’s World Team Trials, we moved them off the list, at least for the time being. If and when they return, they’ll be moved back into a ranking commensurate with their results.
4. There was a significant amount of shifting between weight classes. You’ll see some familiar names in new weights. It’s been fun to see some new and exciting matchups over the last few months.
5. Keep in mind, the ranking criteria is based, when possible, on head-to-head matchups, common opponents, the strength of the weight class, and body of work. This comes into play, for example, when figuring out where to put NCAA and NAIA wrestlers in the Senior WFS Rankings. In some weight classes, for example, an NAIA national champion might not be as high in the rankings as an NCAA All-American if the weight class was deeper in the NCAA. The opposite may also be true where an NAIA weight class might be deeper than the NCAA.
