The finals at the UWW Cadet Freestyle Nationals gave us some incredible moments and competitive matches. After all the scrapping in Akron, Ohio, we now have our cadet freestyle world team in place.

The UWW University Freestyle Nationals in Akron, Ohio had an avalanche of wrestlers signing up to compete. Over 700 entries filled the brackets, whose total numbers swelled to over 110 in some cases.

Akron has a way of letting kids kick the door in and show themselves off to the world. Every year, there's at least one breakthrough athlete who blows us away at the UWW Cadet Nationals.

As expected the fur was flying at UWW Nationals on Saturday, and we had some absolutely incredible cadet freestyle matches on the way to getting some anticipated finals. In the mix of awesome finishes in Akron, Ohio, was one hell of a performance by Peyton Robb, who will be in Sunday's best-of-three finals against Will Lewan.
Hundreds of wrestlers filled up some monster brackets at the Cadet and University Freestyle Nationals at the Stile Athletics Field House in Akron, Ohio.
Lights, camera, action. It's time to enter the land of the leg grabbers.
Our Cadet Greco World Team is now in place. There were some chippy matches along the way as the team was decided along with some high-flying Greco bombs that had the crowd oohing and aahhing. In addition, the university national greco tournament gave us some great action as well.

Grudge matches on top of grudge matches.
A year ago, Team USA brought back a nice chunk of the Cadet Freestyle World Championship hardware, including gold medals from Kurt McHenry, Yianni Diakomihalis, and Gable Steveson. Diakomihalis and Steveson both won their second straight titles last year, and now McHenry will be looking to do the same.

We've already taken a look at the lower weights, and now it's time to break down the middle to heavyweights at this weekend's Cadet World Team Trials in Akron, Ohio. One thing is for sure, the competition in these weight class is on 100.
This weekend's University Nationals will be one of the biggest ever, with over 600 wrestlers registered. And there's no University Worlds this year, so it's not even for a world team spot!
Over the past few years, and with the reinstatement in 2011 of the Cadet World Championships, Akron has taken on greater importance. Serving as the World Team Trials, it is the penultimate prize for the age division.
Over 600 wrestlers are registered to compete in Akron, Ohio, this weekend at the UWW University Freestyle Nationals. All the senior-level weights will be competed plus 80kg. The brackets will range from large to quite large, with the smallest being 97kg with 48 competitors and the largest being 65kg with an astounding 98 registered wrestlers.
2016 Junior World bronze medalist and 2017 Senior World Team member G'Angelo Hancock (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC/Sunkist Kids) has challenged 2017 Junior Greco-Roman World Team Trials champion Blake Smith (Peoria, Ariz./NMU-OTS) for the 96 kg/211 lbs. spot on the 2017 Junior Greco World Team.
