Jojo Aragona walked into the gym as the top dog and he made sure it stayed that way.

Wrestling season couldn't have gotten here fast enough. Mercifully, Who's #1 came around yesterday and kicked off the season with another excellent slate of action-packed matchups. Below are our top five favorite matches from the all-star extravaganza.

Yianni Diakomihalis knows all about competing on the big stage. But before the reigning 141-pound NCAA Champion stood at the top of the podium in Cleveland he battled for the top spot at Who's #1 in 2015 in a four-man bracket.

Sports fans are drawn to upsets. That's why they compete, and that's why we watch. We want to see a team or athlete maintain a level of superiority or, conversely, someone else rise to the occasion.
Who's #1 has brought us the premier matchups in high school wrestling each year. By definition, the wrestlers are contending to be named the best at their weight in the country. Who's #1 competitors have gone on to win NCAA Championships, All American Honors and World titles and medals. In fact, WNO alumni have made 42 World Teams, winning 24 medals, 14 of which were gold.

Who's #1 brings the creme de la creme of high school wrestling to the Snake Pit. That means it's got a little bit of a head start over most events in terms of producing high level, Division 1 talent.
The wait is over. Wrestling is finally upon us again and returns with a bang this weekend.
Brevin Balmeceda is like a patient sniper, while Alex Facundo brings a bit more urgency to the mat. Because of this, I think this match will be one of the highest level bouts of the night.

The final #1 senior is off the board.
Almost every wrestler in the country listens to music before their matches. Those who make it to Who's #1 get to hear it played over a loudspeaker as their walkout song.

This is going to be a bit of a clash of styles. Jojo Aragona works off his own pressure, while Gabe Tagg has the ability to draw a guy in when needed. And that’s the version of Tagg I think we will see at Who’s #1 and that’s simply because of the pressure that will come from Argona.
It's no secret that wrestling is highly concentrated in the Northeast, and in fact Who's #1 takes place in one of the sport's most historically talented area. But instead of two guys from within 50 miles or so wrestling for the top spot in the country, it's a couple young men from West of the Mississippi.
For the third time in the history of Who's #1, fans will be treated to a four-man mini tournament for the top spot in the country. The second match on the card will feature #2 Keegan O'Toole against #3 Jaden Abas.

Jakason Burks has a big move arsenal and Greg Diakomihalis is nasty from an elbow tie. Burks is a walking warning sign when it comes to big throws while Greg D doesn’t always need to manufacture his own offense in order to score.

In just under a month, the sixth annual Who's #1 returns to the campus of Lehigh University. Held in the storied Snake Pit, WNO has become a destination event for wrestling fans, and participating has become a goal of every high school wrestler in America.
