Boris Makoev and Sohsuke Takatani qualified for the Olympics at 86kg by making the finals of the World Olympic Games Qualifier. Takatani would take gold after Makoev forfeited in the finals. Takatani defeated Poland’s Zbigniew Baranowski and moves up a few spots but stays behind Zushen Lin (CHN), who defeated Takatani in April at the Asian Olympic Qualifying tournament. Makoev’s ranked win came over Yurieski Torreblanca. Because of that win and Aminashvili losing to Abakarov (who Makoev also defeated), Makoev moves into the bottom half of the rankings.

Also moving back into the rankings is Turkey’s 86kg Olympian Osmen Gocen. Gocen had formerly defeated Boris Makoev at the European Qualifier but suffered a loss at the European Championships. 

A final note-Gabe Dean has been removed from the rankings due to his recent retirement announcement.
