#6 Akhmed Usmanov won the Yarygin in May and followed up with another gold at the Aliev in June. His finals match was a controversial, 3-1 win over #7 Atsamaz Sanakoev. Originally, Sanakoev was leading 3-3 as time expired, but Usmanov won a late challenge overturning points originally given to Sanakoev. Despite the loss, Sanakoev was impressive on his way to silver at the Aliev as he defeated #18 Dadaev and #19 Ulimbashaev.

At the Yasar Dogu, #15 Mohamad Nokhodi won gold and beat #16 Hamidreza Zarinpeykar (IRI) in the finals, 4-3. Also of note at the Dogu, unranked Hasan Gurbuz (TUR) took bronze and defeated formerly ranked Muhammet Kotanoglu (TUR) in the process. Though Gurbuz does not move into the rankings, he is on the cusp of the top 20 at 79kg.
