Iran’s Mohammad Mohammadian won the Yasar Dogu with a tight, 4-3 win in the finals over Russia’s Alikhan Zhabrailov. Prior to the loss to Mohammadian, Zhabrailov had won 4 major international tournaments in a row - 2020 Russian Nationals, 2020 Individual World Cup, 2021 Russian Nationals, and the 2021 European Championships. Along with those accomplishments, it’s worth noting Zhabrailov beat #20 Kollin Moore in the semifinals, 8-2. Moore, however, did wrestle back to take bronze.

At the Kolov, former Russian Magomedkhan Magomedov made a successful international debut for Azerbaijan by taking home gold and defeating #19 Aleksandr Hushtyn. Magomedov won the Yarygin in 2021 and was a junior world champion in 2018 making him a definite threat on the senior level at 97kg.
