2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle
57 Zaur Uguev
Zelimkhan Abakarov won worlds by taking out Thomas Gilman, Stevan Micic, Reineri Andreu, and Gulomjon Abdullaev. A Russian transfer, Abakarov had been wrestling at 61kg this year but successfully made the drop for worlds. Abakarov comes in at #2 behind Olympic champ Zaur Uguev who missed worlds but won Russian Nationals in May.
Stevan Micic and Reineri Andreu make a big jump in the rankings for their performance at worlds. Though Micic took out Andreu in the bronze medal match, Andreu impressively defeated Abdullaev. On top of that, earlier in the tournament, Abdullaev defeated Olympic silver Ravi Kumar.
Zanabazar Zandanbud and Wanhao Zou also made big jumps into the rankings. Zandanbud won bronze with a win over Zou who took out Alireza Sarlak earlier in the tournament.
