2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle
97 Abdulrashid Sadulaev
Abdulrashid Sadulaev continues to win. He won gold at the World Cup and is now on a 49 match winning streak. That is the longest active winning streak at the senior level. It’s hard to imagine him losing any time soon, especially if his opponents forfeit to him like #10 Aleksandr Hushtyn (BLR) did in the finals of the World Cup.
Because of the forfeit from Hushtyn and the random draw bracketing system, Sadulaev’s toughest opponent came in the first round against newly ranked #20 Suleyman Karadeniz (TUR). Karadeniz fell to Sadulaev 8-0 but wrestled back to take bronze. Karadeniz competed exclusively at 92kg in 2018 and 2019, highlighted by a gold medal at the 2020 European Championships. However, it seems he is committed to 97kg after his performance at the World Cup and a gold at the 2020 Poland Open in November at 97kg.
