Swiderski is No. 2 in the current 145-pound national rankings, No. 5 pound-for-pound and No. 2 on the Class of 2022 Big Board. He became the fourth Michigan wrestler to capture four team and four individual state titles. Swiderski finished 45-0 this season and has a 156-3 career record.
The Iowa State signee pulled off a shocker at Who's #1, edging Indiana's Jesse Mendez, then No. 1 pound-for-pound, 7-6. Proving that win was no fluke, Swiderski beat Mendez more divisively just after the high school season ended, 10-4, at the Motor City Casino. Mendez is still No. 3 pound-for-pound.
Swiderski also finished second in the 138-pound freestyle competition in Fargo. last year. He racked up some impressive wins, including over New Jersey state champion Ty Whalen, ranked No. 7 nationally at 145.
