2020-21 Minnesota High School Rankings
2020-21 Minnesota High School Rankings: 182
If I have to pick a favorite weight class for this upcoming season, it’s 182. And it’s not even close.
Leading the way is three-time state champ and #24 Class of 2022 Big Board, Bennett Berge.
Next man up is two-time state finalist Quayin Short, another top-100 Big Board member, but in his class of 2021.
Last season Max McEnelly went up five weight classes to 170 and finished the season with a 50-1 record and a state title.
Two-time state champ in Class A, Tyson Meyer, put together another dominating year. Meyer has a combined record of 89-1 in his last two seasons.
Caden DeWall finished third in Class AA last season. DeWall narrowly lost to Berge by a score of 7-6 in the state semifinals.
Ryder Rogotzke is #28 on the Big Board Class of 2023 list. Rogotzke, like McEnelly, is only entering his sophomore year. I wouldn’t mind seeing those two square off in the state finals.
Although he did not qualify for state, Wyatt Block put together a very impressive 19-2 shortened season. Block had wins over Simon (third in A), Hunt (fourth in AA), and Oathoudt (third in AAA), among others.
I could go on about the returning talent in this weight, but I’ll stop there for now.
