2021-22 National Girls High School Rankings

117

USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum have released the February 2022 rankings for high school girls wrestlers for the 2021-22 season. This national ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.

The February rankings reflect the results of the nine girls state high school championships already held. Girls state tournaments have already been held in Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Virginia, South Carolina, Iowa, Alabama, Indiana and Alaska.

The remainder of the official and unofficial state championships for girls will continue in February and through early March. The next ranking in March will reflect the results of those state tournaments and will be published before the start of the USA Wrestling spring season and other major post-season competitions.

There is only one new No. 1 ranked wrestler this month, Shelby Moore of Washington, at 127 pounds. Moore has been a previous No. 1 ranked wrestler, but down at 122 pounds.

There is also only one new athlete in the updated Pound-For-Pound (P-4-P) rankings, Jennifer Soto of California, who comes in at No. 23.

In the January rankings, some honorable mentions were included at every weight class. This has been expanded with the February rankings, as there are now five honorable mention wrestlers in each weight class.

Based upon the results from the state championships, as well as the expansion of honorable mention selections, there are 55 athletes in this ranking who were not ranked in January.

Coaches, parents and athletes are encouraged to provide information about specific athletes and their achievements throughout the year for the committee to consider. If they have information on specific girls who should be considered for ranking or updates on their achievements, please send it by email to girlsrankings@usawrestling.org. The quality of these rankings continue to improve as people choose to share updated information.
