2022 World Championship Rankings - Men's Freestyle
86 - Hassan Yazdani
Hassan Yazdani and David Taylor remain the clear #1 and #2 at 86kg and will likely meet in the world finals as the two are seeded #1 and #2 respectively. Both had great performances in the past month beginning with Yazdani winning the ranking series even in Kazakhstan. There, Yazdani defeated #4 Erdin, #5 Dauletbekov, and #9 Makoev in a dominant fashion. Yazdani will know wrestle-off three-time world medalist Alireza Karimi to earn his spot on Iran’s world team.
Taylor impressively made his 4th world/Olympic team by taking out Zahid Valencia in two straight matches at Final X NYC. Those matches were notably Taylor’s first two since his world finals loss to Yazdani back in October 2021. While the first match was only a 4-2 decision, Taylor cruised to a 10-0 win in the second match and looks to be wrestling as good as he ever has.
Myles Amine holds his spot at #3 after winning the Mediterranean Games and defeating Fatih Erdin in the finals, 4-1. Despite the loss, Erdin had a great month defeating #5 Dauletbekov at the ranking series event in Kazakhstan and only losing to higher-ranked wrestlers Amine and Yazdani.
