Gilcher, a future Michigan Wolverine, is ranked #3 in the nation at 145 after an outstanding offseason, which included being the only state of Michigan wrestler to win both Super 32 and Grappler Fall Classic titles. Gilcher, a three-time Division 1 state champion, also finished sixth in junior freestyle is his Fargo debut and took fourth at the U20 United States Open freestyle competition where his most stunning offseason win took place. There, he knocked off NCAA qualifier Ryan Jack (North Carolina State), who is #6 at 141 pounds in the latest NCAA rankings.
At Super 32, Gilcher, #40 on the Class of 2023 Big Board, took care of Florida's Cooper Haase (#7, 145) and Pennsylvania's Collin Gaj (#11, 145). In Fargo, his best win came against three-time Wisconsin state champion Gavin Drexler. In a clash of unbeaten 2022 Michigan state champions, Gilcher decisioned Dundee's Aiden Davis, 10-4, in the GFC title match at 145. Gilcher also owns wins over Arizona's Tyler Kasak (#23 pound-for-pound, #2, 145), Iowa's Ryder Block (#2, 138) and three-time Minnesota state champion Jore Volk (#40, Class of 2022 Big Board). Gilcher went 41-0 last season and boasts a owns a 108-4 high school record.
