2021 World Championship Rankings - Men's Freestyle
92 - Kamran Ghasempour
Kamran Ghasempour is ranked #1 at this weight and is one of best wrestlers in the world to never wrestle at a senior world championships. Ghasempour was the 2018 U23 World Champion and defeated Olympic Bronze medalist Artur Naifonov there. Up at 92kg, Ghasempour won the 2021 Asian Championships in dominant fashion - winning all matches by tech fall.
While J’den Cox is ranked #4 at this weight, he’s the two-time defending world champion and should be considered the favorite to win again in October. The only reason Cox is ranked at the #4 spot is due to his loss at the Poland Open to unranked Ilia Archai (UKR). #3 Zbigniew Baranowski (POL) went on to win the Poland Open and finished second at the Ali Aliev (behind Iran’s Ebrahimi).
Russia’s Magomed Kurbanov was the 2021 European Champion and should be considered a threat to win a medal and challenge for a gold.
