With Russia banned and Abdulrashid Sadulaev out of this year's worlds, Kyle Snyder is the favorite to win gold in Serbia. Snyder will be faced with challenges in the likes of Reineris Salas (CUB), Mohammad Mohammadian/Mojtaba Goleij (IRA), Magomedkhan Magomedov (AZE), and Vladislav Baitsaev (HUN). Of those aforementioned wrestlers, Snyder has only lost to Mohammadian - a pin back at the 2020 Matteo Pellicone. However, there's a chance Iran's Mojtaba Goleij (last year's world bronze medalist) is the rep for Iran at this year's world championships. Goleij was ahead of Snyder in the semi-finals at last year's world before Snyder secured a takedown with short time left on the clock. Regardless of who Iran sends, Snyder is sure to be faced with an incredible challenge for gold.
