A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Steveson was a four time high school state champion before committing to wrestle for the Golden Gophers. The Minnesota heavyweight won national titles for the Gophers in 2021 and 2022 before retiring from NCAA and Olympic wrestling. However, after making his return to freestyle wrestling this spring at the US Open and Final X, he wants to come back to NCAA wrestling as well.

    Before Final X, many wrestling fans expected the US to send a veteran squad to Serbia for the World Championships in hopes of repeating as World Champs and adding to sky-high individual medal counts.
