Burroughs Get His 5th
By Seth Petarra
Jordan Burroughs (USA) maintains his No. 1 spot after winning his fifth overall world/Olympic title by beating Khetik Tsabolov (RUS). Tsabolov moves up one spot to No. 2 following his dominant run to the finals that included a tech fall win over No. 3 Soner Demirtas (TUR) and a pin against No. 6 Jabrayil Hasanov (AZE). Ali Shabanov (BLR) jumps up 14 spots to No. 4 in the rankings after beating No. 5 Bekzod Abdurakhmanov (UZB) to earn his third world bronze medal. Yasar Dogu and Islamic Solidarity Games champion Muslim Evloev (KGZ) falls five spots to No. 11 after a loss to No. 20 Parveen Rana (IND), who debuts in the rankings after beating former No. 6 Muslim Evloev (KGZ). It’s hard to justify a huge drop for Evloev, who has wins over No. 2 Khetik Tsabolov (RUS) and No. 3 Soner Demirtas (TUR) this year, but he still needs to be dropped down a bit. Zelimkhan Khadjiev (FRA) enters the rankings at No. 18 after beating former No. 8 Peyman Yarahmadi (IRI). Peyman Yarahmadi (IRI) falls six spots to No. 14 after a loss to No. 18 Zelimkhan Khadjiev (FRA).
