Meet the Champions:

1A:    Phoenix Blakely - Dakota, Junior 36-3

2A:    Markel Baker - Freeport, Senior 27-0

3A:    Sergio Lemley - Chicago Mount Carmel 40-1

The old adage is that it is very hard to beat a good wrestler three times. With two nationally ranked wrestlers battling it out for the 3A title, this held true as Sergio Lemley avenged losses at Super 32 and Ironman to Vincent Robinson and took home the 3A state title to earn the top spot in the final rankings. In 2A, it was a battle of state champions with 2021 IWCOA state champion Markel Baker edging 2020 IHSA state champion Joey Fernau for the title. The 1A final was all Phoenix Blakely as he earned a tech fall to claim the title, the third state title of his career.

Other storylines from 126 include Frezza defeating defending IWCOA state champion Macatangay for third place in 3A. 3A 126 was arguably the deepest bracket in the state this year.
