Meet the Champions

1A:    Collin Altensey - Riverdale, Junior 47-0

2A:    Braden Stauffenberg - Aurora Christian, Senior 40-4

3A:    Ethan Stiles - Conant, Junior 30-1

152 was another weight class that featured top national-level talent.  3A was a battle of defending IWCOA state champions with Ethan Stiles coming out on top and earning his second state title.  In 2A, the trilogy between Stauffenberg and Peet concluded with an overtime thriller and a bracket board for Stauffenberg.  In 1A, Altensey concluded a flawless season with a gold medal and a perfect record.  With so much talent, all of the state champions at this weight deserve a spot near the top but the #1 spot goes to Stauffenberg based on his heads-up win at Dvorak and the overall strength of schedule.  Stiles, who had an equally hard schedule and won the Doc B takes the second spot at this weight.

Other storylines from 152 include David Mayora taking third place in 2A and becoming Montini's second medalist of the night. While Montini may be in a rebuilding phase, the future does appear bright with two outstanding sophomores leading the way for the Broncos.
