Meet the Champions

1A:    Maddox Blakely - Dakota, Senior 41-2

2A:    Aoci Bernard - Rock Island, Senior 50-3

3A:    Kole Brower - Moline, Senior 46-1

Blakely came in as the favorite in 1A and walked out with a bracket board capping his high school career with a state title.  Brower, the defending IWCOA state champion came in as a favorite as well and earned his second high school state title dominating his way through the bracket. In 2A Bernard clearly paid no attention to the rankings and established himself as the top 138-pounder in 2A by defeating both Griffin and Neumark en route to an impressive state title run.

Other storylines from 138 include an all Downers Grove third-place match between South's Nugent and North's Konder. Nugent came away with the victory.
